Harborline Distribution
Challenge
Harborline operated 12 distribution centers across the Midwest, but their order management, inventory tracking, and carrier coordination lived in separate systems. Manual exception triage consumed 40+ hours per week, and visibility gaps meant customers learned about delays before operations did.
Approach
We designed a unified data platform that consolidated order, inventory, and carrier data into a single operational view. The architecture prioritized real-time visibility over batch processing, with automated exception routing that surfaced issues to the right team based on context, not just severity.
Operational Changes
- Replaced three legacy data warehouses with a governed lakehouse architecture
- Implemented real-time event streaming for order status changes
- Built automated exception routing with context-aware escalation
- Created unified dashboards for operations, customer service, and leadership
"We went from reacting to problems to preventing them. The visibility changed how we operate."
